About Bernadette
Bernadette is a 39 year old Hispanic female who is hoping to become a surrogate for the second time. Bernadette lives in San Bernardino, California with her three children, one of which she gave birth to and two of which are adopted. She has a 9 year old son, 9 year old daughter, and a 7 year old son.
Bernadette is 5’3” and weighs 140 pounds and has a BMI of 24.8. She speaks English and is a US Citizen. Bernadette describes herself as gentle, loyal, and funny. She loves to make people laugh, baking, shopping, reading, and attending church. Bernadette said her faith is strong.
Bernadette has Kaiser Permanente insurance through her employer. Her last family she carried for purchased a secondary policy called Anthem Blue Shield and it was 628/month. The next family she carries for will likely want to purchase the Anthem Blue Shield again.
Bernadette works in operations at the airport for Amazon. She works 40-59 hours a week and makes $26.25 an hour. She has short-term disability insurance.
Bernadette received her GED. She later attended trade school in 2009 for medical billing and coding. She would like to go back to esthetician school.
Bernadette has never donated eggs but she has been a surrogate one time. Bernadette has had three pregnancies and two deliveries. She has never had an abortion, however, her first pregnancy in 2010 was ectopic. Her son was born on May 27, 2016. He weighed 5 pounds 13 ounces and was born at 39 weeks 6 days. Her third pregnancy was a surrogate pregnancy. She was born August 8, 2025. She weighed 6 pounds 7 ounces and she was born at 40 weeks 6 days. Bernadette stated that there were no complications with either pregnancy or delivery except for a placenta previa that resolved on its own in the surrogacy pregnancy. Bernadette shares custody of her children. He is healthy with no behavior or psychological problems. Bernadette is not currently breastfeeding. She did go through fertility treatments to become pregnant with her surrogacy journey and achieved pregnancy on the first frozen embryo transfer attempt.
Bernadette has regular menstrual cycles that last for 5 days and has a 28 day cycle. Bernadette states that her mother did not take diethylstillbestrol (DES) while pregnant with her to the best of her knowledge.
Bernadette’s last pap smear was conducted on September 30, 2025 and was normal. She has never been treated for HIV/AIDS or any STD. Bernadette has never suffered from depression. Bernadette has never been seen by a psychologist for her surrogacy journey. She has never been prescribed psychiatric medications and has never been hospitalized for any psychiatric conditions.
Bernadette is allergic to codeine and flexeril. The only surgery she has had was breast augmentation.
Bernadette does not smoke cigarettes, vape, or use any smokeless tobacco. Bernadette denies any drug use. Bernadette has never used any illegal drugs. Bernadette drinks on special occasions but states that she has not ever drank while pregnant and will not drink during a surrogacy pregnancy. Bernadette has never been diagnosed with any of the following: gonorrhea, hepatitis C, HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B, herpes, genital warts/sores, HPV, HSV, chlamydia, or anemia.
Bernadette does not have any legal claims/cases pending at this time. She has never been arrested or had conflicts with the law, been convicted of a felony, been accused and/or convicted of child abuse or spousal abuse, lost custody of a child, been in a substance abuse program, or declared bankruptcy.
Bernadette has discussed becoming a surrogate again with her friends and family members and has a great support system. Bernadette has no concerns about sharing her surrogacy journey with her children and Bernadette states that there isn’t anyone that she is aware of that is against her desire to become a surrogate.
Bernadette is willing to carry for any heterosexual family. She is willing to carry for an international family but would prefer less of a language barrier than with the last family she carried for. The last family she carried for did not speak any English. Also, the last family she carried for never came to the United States during the delivery to pick their child up (different agency than Await Surrogacy) and for this journey she wants a family that is excited to become parents and will do everything in their power to get here to meet their baby upon delivery. The last family hired someone to travel back to their home country with the baby two months after baby was born. Bernadette said that she is willing to give up pork products if the family requests it due to religious reasons. Bernadette states that she is excited to become a surrogate again because she enjoyed her first journey so much.
Bernadette is willing to have selective reduction or an abortion for any reason. She is willing to transfer one embryo at a time and is ok if the embryos splits multiple times. Bernadette is ok with an amniocentesis if it is medically necessary or for life threatening reasons and under the recommendation of a physician. Bernadette is ok with the intended parents being in the delivery room and is open to communication after delivery if the intended parents desire it. Bernadette is open to the intended parents joining her at doctor appointments and taking pictures throughout their journey together.
Bernadette is willing to get the flu vaccine but is not willing to get the Covid vaccine.
