Meet Vince + Rachel

Our Story

I (Rachel) am from New Orleans, Louisiana and Vince is from Cincinnati, Ohio. Vince and I met in medical school at MUSC in Charleston. He was helping tutor me and we decided to take a study break at the beach and he told me he liked me. We fell in love and got married in June of 2022 after we graduated from medical school. We couples matched together at LSU Health Shreveport for our residencies, Vince in internal medicine and me in radiology. We have two cats, Claude and Earl. We adopted Claude in Charleston and Earl in Shreveport. We are blessed to have a 2-and-a-half-year-old daughter named Lilah who I gave birth to naturally and had a healthy normal pregnancy with her birth in 2024. Vince is done with residency and now is an attending and works as a Hospitalist at LSU. I am finishing up my residency and graduate in June 2027. I am excited to have matched in a breast imaging fellowship at MUSC starting in July of 2027, so we will be moving back to Charleston in May/June. We were expecting a baby in December this year but I had a loss at 27 weeks due to massive perivillious fibrin deposition, a very rare condition affecting the placenta. We were told this could happen in future pregnancies. This was a very difficult experience for our family. We do not want to risk losing another child. We want to pursue surrogacy as we always dreamed of having more children and this seems like the safest option. The possibility of having a baby through the help of a surrogate has given me an immense amount of hope, and I am eager to get started on this journey.

Meet Vince

About Vince (In Rachel’s words) - Vince has so many amazing qualities. He can cook and bake just about anything. He can even make homemade pasta and ravioli.  He is super smart. He can remember conversations and lectures from years ago. He loves music and used to play the flute in the marching band in college for the University of South Carolina. I most of all love how much he cares for Lilah and our family. He makes all the food for our family. I like to say he is kind of the wife or the house husband of our relationship. He cleans, cooks, and holds us all up.  I cannot explain enough how much he supports us and how much he does. I am definitely spoiled to have him. Vince was the third child of four and he loved having his brothers and a sister to play with growing up. He has imagined a big family for ours, as well.

Meet Rachel

About Rachel (In Vince’s words) -

How We Met

We met in medical school. I was looking for someone to sit with during lecture since a lot of my other friends started listening to lectures virtually. He told me I could sit with him which I thought was very sweet. He was helping tutor me (he is the smart one) and we decided to take a study break at the beach and he told me he liked me. We had a few dates at my apartment where he made homemade pizza, and I was very impressed.

Why Surrogacy?

Vince and I always wanted more children. Vince wanted three and I wanted two at least. We were expecting a baby in December this year but I had a loss at 27 weeks due to massive perivillious fibrin deposition, a very rare condition affecting the placenta. I was told the condition has a high recurrence rate and this could happen again. We want to pursue surrogacy as we always dreamed of having more children and this seems like the safest option. The possibility of having a baby through the help of a surrogate has given me an immense amount of hope, and I am eager to get started on this journey.

Meet Lilah

We are blessed to have a beautiful 2-and-a-half-year-old daughter named Lilah who I gave birth to naturally and had a healthy normal pregnancy with her in 2024. Lilah is a sweet girl who has a great sense of humor. She loves the outdoors, painting, reading, animals, and going to school. She has a favorite bunny lovey that she adores. She is currently at a very highly regarded Montessori school. She is talking well and growing up to be an amazing girl.
